It’s been 3 weeks since we landed here in “Sunny” California and vacation is over for my better half and he is already in India, trying to shake off his sleep and get ready for the office routine from Monday. Yes, it is sick to have to go back to office, deal with thousands of pending mails and the likes when you have just come back from an awesome vacation. Hope he copes with everything and my house is still standing by the time I go back 😕 .
Ok, now back to the topic of this post – Road trip. We set off the 2nd day we landed on the 1st road trip, so that we gel into the US timings and not be bogged down by jet lag. We covered Lake Tahoe, Reno and Yosemite as part of the 1st leg of our travel. Though I’ve been to all 3 places during my previous visits, I wanted K to enjoy these places with his lens and capture the scenic beauty. Enjoy he did…the camera was stuck to his eye throughout the journey, so much so that my BIL kept saying that by the end of this trip K would have a bent nose and a squinted eye 🙄 .
Sunny it was, everywhere we went, the sun beating down on us with no mercy..on the contrary the Californians were enjoying the heat and welcoming it with open arms and bikinis all around. The sun does not seem to bother them one bit, in fact they want to get roasted and fried under it.
Yosemite was a scenic paradise, but we did not cover even half the area. Greenery matched with the bluish skies and the milky gushing waterfalls was a real treat to the eyes. The sun beating down, the wind howling in our ears and eyes watering due to the combined effect..we wanted more. It was just a day trip..so we covered as much as our legs could take us around. Tahoe was as usual..the biting cold from the lake and people sunbathing all around. Reno was good too..we walked around taking in the night sights. Hundreds of pictures..memories to last a life time.
We came back home and in another couple of days left on our 2nd road trip – this time to coincide with our 9th Anniversary 🙂 . So off we drove away this time to Disneyland, Universal Studios, Solvang Danish VIllage, San Diego and Santa Barbara. Disney and Universal were awesome..we went on most of the rides. The crowds were unbelievable..looked like the whole of California had come out to these places. The long serpentine queues and even 80min waits was not a deterrent to people. The Universal Studio tour, the Transformers 3D ride, Ironman animation special effects where you could see yourself wear the suit and become Ironman yourself on screen was a great highlight. It was great fun and turned us into kids. I can imagine the state of kids visiting these places..specially if you are living close to these theme parks.
Yes and as I mentioned earlier we completed 9yrs of marriage madness..9yrs! wow!!! Time has just flown by. These 9 yrs have been lovely..the path leading to the union strewn with ups and downs. But ask me and we would do it all over again. We know each others quirks, madness and are so used to each other’s thoughts and actions. We can read each other’s minds like psychics 😀 .
This song is exactly as though its been written about us and I dedicate this to us
